The EU-funded SCIANCE project supports the development of the Resource for AI Science in Europe (RAISE) and coordinates AI-enabled scientific research across Europe through a bottom-up approach. The project mobilises leading European scientific organisations and research infrastructures across five pilot areas – fundamental physics and astronomy, materials science, life science, earth sciences, and social sciences and humanities – together with AI research centres and e-infrastructures. SCIANCE will identify AI-in-science research and innovation priorities and pilot the structure of the RAISE Secretariat for AI in science.
Why SCIANCE?
Bottom-up approach for AI-enabled scientific research across Europe, directly involving the scientific community
Facilitate cross-domain collaborations between scientific disciplines, AI research, industry and EU infrastructures
Improve data access, infrastructure capabilities, and skills through feasible upgrades scenarios
Provide structured guidance, cooperation mechanisms and strategic priorities, via an SRIA and implementation roadmap
Increase visibility and integration of AI research and innovations for scientific research
What We Do
SCIANCE supports Europe’s scientific communities in using AI responsibly and effectively. We create evidence-based research priorities through the Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda (SRIA), identify key infrastructure needs via the Infrastructure Roadmap, and pilot a sustainable coordination framework through RAISE, the Resource for AI Science in Europe.
Our work focuses on five key scientific domains where AI can transform research: Astronomy & Physics, Materials Science, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, and Social Sciences & Humanities.

Community & RAISE
SCIANCE connects researchers, infrastructures, policymakers, and citizens. Through the RAISE Secretariat, upcoming Digital Hub, and AIS Summits, we ensure the AI in Science community collaborates efficiently and sustainably.
